COFCO Corporation started to build its meat product base in Changling, Songyuan, Jilin Province, on October 22, 2012. Senior corporate management and local government officials attended the ceremony.
This is the first project of its kind of COFCO in Jilin Province. It is also the first project in COFCO’s Northeastern meat product business strategy. The total investment is RMB 4 billion and the output is expected to exceed RMB 10 billion. It is designed to breed 2 million piglets, raise 1 million pigs in a self-supported way and another 1 million in a cooperative way and slaughter 2 million pigs. At the upstream, the 650,000 ton feed project will be built. At the downstream, the 50,000 ton meat product project will be built.
The base will drive local economy and be instrumental to the industry and market.
