COFCO Scholarship Award Ceremony 2011 was held in the International Conference Center of China Agricultural University (CAU) on January 11. 35 students received the scholarship.
Mr. Chi Jingtao, Vice President of COFCO, and Mr. Qin Shicheng, Deputy Secretary-General of CPC CAU Committee, delivered scholarships and certificates to receivers.
Mr. Chi looked back to the history of COFCO Scholarship and the cooperation between COFCO and CAU. He introduced COFCO’s strategic target to build the group into a fully integrated food company, reiterated that COFCO has always put people as its first priority. The group never stops exploring possibilities to create mutual development opportunities for both the company and employees. He also spoke highly of CAU’s contribution to the society by developing so many professional talents and hopes more CAU graduates could join COFCO.
Mr. Qin said CAU and COFCO had set up close cooperation in talents development, scientific research, and social services. CAU appreciated COFCO’s support, especially those from top management, who has been present at the ceremony for 5 consecutive years despite tight schedule. Confident in business-university cooperation, he also hopes the two could further extend their cooperation.
Mr. Hao Xiaoming, Vice President of COFCO Scientific Research Institute, Mr. Wang Bin, General Manager of Employee Relations Division of Human Resources Department, and Dr. Ding Qingbo, Deputy General Manager of Food R&D Center of Innovation Management Department were also present and exchanged ideas with students.
COFCO Scholarship was founded in 2006 following the CPC Central Committee’s instruction to support rural and agricultural development and the increase of farmers’ income. The scholarship aims at top students in College of Food Science & Nutritional Engineering and College of Economics & Management, CAU. So far over 180 students have received the support.
