COFCO signed the strategic cooperation agreement with Chengdu City Government of Sichuan Province on February 3, 2010, and also signed the project agreement jointly with Chengdu City Grain Administration and Xinjin County Government of Chengdu City. Mr. Patrick Yu, COFCO President and Mr. Ge Honglin, Governor of Chengdu City attended the signing ceremony.
Mr. Yu expressed gratitude to Chengdu City Government for their continuous support to COFCO. He thinks Chengdu City provides a good investment environment and great development opportunities. COFCO plans to construct an agri processing base with a million ton capacity in Chengdu City. The base will be supported with financial, logistics, R&D and commercial property projects, which is expected to contribute to agri modernization, modern rural development and income increase.
Mr. Ge said, Chengdu City always attaches importance to cooperation with COFCO. The City witnesses new development opportunities today. After signing the agreement, the City expects to develop more fields together with COFCO and build itself into a sustainably developing eco-city, which coincides with COFCO’s value chain strategy.
Before the signing ceremony, Mr. Yu visited the comprehensive industry development park in Xinjin County and exchanges views with Chengdu City officials in mutually interested topics.
